At 40 I started training in karate. I was not in fantastic shape, but worked very hard. At 46 I tested for my black belt for 12 hrs. I taught my kids to select a goal and don't quit. I am now Sensei

What is the biggest obstacle that I have had to face in my life? Well for me it has been a continuous struggle to keep my weight in check.
Ever since since I was about 10 years old I had continued to gain weight and was very chubby (a nice word) from that age into my teen years then early adulthood and into later adulthood. I was always worried (as were my parents) that this would create medical problems.
I have fought and struggled to lose weight beginning in my later teen years and was reasonably successful. The problem is that it would still come back. I would revert to my old habits and would continue to put on the weight and add a little more. Beginning in my later thirties I purchased some exercise devices which I started to use.
I was fairly successful at dropping some weight and increase my fitness level but there was still some of the yo-yo effect of putting on more weight. Right now I am in my later adulthood, I walk 3 sometimes 4 days per week for an hour each time and have added some resistance and stretching to my routine. For my height, the weight is within the range that it should be according to medical experts. My blood pressure is normal. I am not currently on any medications and generally I feel good most of the time. It is still a struggle to keep myself in check but I know I have to continue to work at it. So for anyone out there who says they cannot lose weight I say you are wrong you can but you really have to want to. Keep trying you can do it. It is always going to be a struggle but it is worth it.

The biggest obstacles I’ve had to overcome in my life has simply been surviving on my own for the last 13 years. I moved to another country at 18, got my BA while working 2 jobs at the same time. I take care of myself, pay my bills, etc. I know that doesn't sounds like much but I’m 31 and I’ve seen plenty of people struggling in this economy, no matter what their age. (Many people are staying with their parents until later ages, as well, so I feel they’re getting a later start in life.) I’ve endured being so broke that I had to microwave popcorn for supper on several occasions, access food banks, and borrow money for basic needs. All in all, I’m still managing on my own, I’ve got a dog that I love very much, and, no matter how hard things get sometimes, I do have to keep in mind that I’ve come a long way on my own. :)

I'm overcoming accident injuries. I went from working two jobs to nothing. I realize achieving this is a long term plan that changes with obstacles but achievable with hard work and a positive attitude.

Mine sounds simple, but it was getting over my fear of learning how to swim. Weird thing was that I have no fear of water, but had such a tough time learning when I was a kid. Finally learned at 40!

When I came to Canada, I did not command English very well. That gave me hard time in school. I need to spend more time on my school work. I also improved my English by reading newspaper, and watching TV.

Biggest obstacle for me was when I was laid off after 31 years and how I needed to learn how to interview and do up a resume. I joined the career centre and worked with them. I am still not working but getting better with each interview. I stay positive and believe I will be working soon.

Biggest challenge for me was giving up my job and life to travel the world by myself. Being shy and with no confidence it helped me get out of my shell and build a new life that I'm happy with
