Has there ever been a book that really affected you or your life in some significant way?

Have you ever read a book that maybe gave you some clarity on something that had been bothering you, or made you see something in a different way, or just made a huge impact on you or your life one way or another? Which book was it, and how did it change you or your perceptions?

My earliest remembrance would be West Side Story from when I was quite young. It just kinda woke me to the different cultures, ethnicities and surroundings that were far from my country farm upbringing. Reply

I remember being somewhat touched by the novel 'Black Beauty' as a kid which likely contributed to my being quite averse to the fact that some animals are mistreated by their owners. Reply
