If you're sharing a bed with a partner - Do you always sleep on the same side every night?
Closed

Most people choose a side of the bed and stick to it, but this recent tweet about a couple always switching has sent the internet into an uproar of confusion.

Jeff Stein wrote ...

"Several months ago, a couple we are friends with said they don’t sleep on the same side of the bed every night. As in, every night when they get into bed, they don’t know who will sleep on which side. Still blows my mind"

The majority of people could not even fathom the idea of switching the side they slept on saying "Not only do we sleep on same side of the bed every night, the dogs in the exact same spot".

It was even described as chaos with one saying "my wife and I tried to switch sides and it was the worst night of sleep I’ve ever had".

My favorite that someone said which pretty much summed me up ...
" 22 years, six houses, five dogs, two mattresses, same side of the bed - ALWAYS.”

It doesn't matter if we are home or in a hotel, I sleep on the same side and cannot imagine switching all of the time. One person had even said first one in picked a side. For me, that would mean changing pillows, maybe even books or other items that I might have on a bedside table. Nope, I want my own side .. always!

What about you - does it matter what side of the bed you are on?

Nope, I'm very set in my ways, at least on this issue. It started when my son was born, I wanted to be out of bed quick, in case I heard him cry. When I got married, my husband took the closer-out side, to protect me.

It's funny, we do have our own "sides" of the bed to sleep on, but we actually switched from what it used to be for years (when we bought a new mattress there was less room to get out on one side, so I had to move to the other side) and it felt really strange for a looong time! Funny how these things affect you.
