I don't think it should be made illegal coz that would be too much like a nanny state but women should certainly be made more aware of how damaging it is

no having posted this, its a free country and people are told what to do too much, so the answer is no.

yes, they should both be illegal for pregnant women. Asthma in children is increasing because of smoking. As for drinking, fetal alcohol effect/syndrome is devastating. It's a form of assault on the most helpless beings of all.

Yes it should be illegal because I believe every one has the right to do as they choose but when you choose to get pregnant then you should loose the right to do anything that could deliberately hurt that unborn child , fetus etc how ever you look at it , it is a person, human that can not make there own choices so the mother carrying the unborn child should make the right choice and if unable to do so then there should be a law in place just as you are not aloud to give your child a cigarette to smoke and that is the law a person is not able to smoke cigarettes until they are at the age of 18 and a person is not able to drink alcohol until they are 21 years of age and if an adult was to give the child a cigarette or drink of alcohol that adult could and would be charged with contributing to a minor and sentenced to jail and or fined etc.... so there should be no difference if a pregnant women deliberately inhales a cigarette or drinks an alcoholic beverage then that adult should be charged with contributing to a minor I mean if a person kicks , hits etc ... a pregnant women they are charged with a crime so if the mother or of all people should not harm the unborn child does then yes my opinion is she should be charged with a crime and this is my opinion:0

If you tell them they can't do something that's not illegal, then you are taking away their civil rights as wrong as it is for any woman to do those things during pregnancy.

it would be hard to do it but she is harming her child, hard to make that illeagal though, i mean abortions are far worse to a childs health then drinking and smoking but that is still illeagal

I think that it should be, but that is a hard to enforce law. Drinking and smoking can be done at home in privacy. A boyfriend, husband, best friend or grown child or stepchild can supply a mother with cigarettes' and booze.

I don't think it would be a law that could be enforced to easily....unless they were in public but hard to in their own home
