I did not have one. Too expensive a hobby for me, but I did buy a little book on the CB 'language' so that I could understand what others were talking about. Reply

I was on the air back in the day as "Triumph Bender" and spent many an evening on quiet roads and in rural car parks chatting to people miles away (at least, that's what I used to tell the police that I was doing if they asked. LOL) Reply

I made a couple of CB dual purpose radio receiver prototype circuit boards half intended for listening to CB and half to function as model radio-control sub-systems at the time ( 1981/2 ). They're both still here just as workable populated boards, both still looking for a useful purpose and both very rugged. Hearing what was being said on air then, the CB fraternity seemed to be wasting a lot of their time talking sweet nothings and not allowed to play any proper music - so I couldn't really see the point except as a toy for the disabled / housebound people. Oh yes, I was very much into the CB. I was known as Cheyenne, and was very-active back in the early 1980s. We had CB meets, and treasure hunts. I communicated with locals and people in the US.
I nearly risked my career, when a journalist tried to use me to get into a top London hospital when royalty were doing a PR visit. It was only through CB that he knew I was a student nurse there. I was only 18, and could so easily have lost it all.
