Sewing boxes
Closed

Do you have a sewing box? This one isn't mine as I've just mended a seam in my skirt as my grand daughter pointed out she could see my knickers! Mine is a tangle of cotton some on needles and very few reels as my least favourite job is sewing, my mum had a huge wooden one that had layers that lifted up, I think, but she was always knitting stuff to sell in a craft shop in town. I dont like sewing buttons on either, yet my husband didn't mind darning things I suppose he had to not mind! :)

I use a boot bag (designed to hold football boots) for my sewing stuff, which includes the usual bits and pieces but also pieces of denim as jeans need patching if people aren't going to see my knickers! :-)

Yes a wooden dual purpose food-trolley thing on wheels with opening lid cavity and a usefully partitioned needle / cotton / scissors drawer underneath, then a shelf for misc objects at the base just above it's steerable swivel-wheels. It was a kit father assembled in the 1950's.

I have two workboxes (to use the old-fashioned term): one for general storage and one for the thread, needles, trimmings etc for whatever I'm working on at the moment.

I have a sewing box. It is actually a little chest of drawers that was made as a present by a former pupil a long time ago. I have a random mixture of thread, needles, pins that have escaped their box and a few buttons and elastic. I do use it occasionally to sew up clothes or sew on buttons. I like watching The Great British sewing Bee even though i cannot sew well although i did learn at school and remember enjoying it.
