What Should I Do ?

The fire surround i acquired some years ago when i was working around 70 hours a week.
I could not say how many hours it took me to strip and sand it down to this as it had about 4 coats of gloss paint on it.
The front room is now almost totally white, after having 3 coats , that is apart from the back wall which still needs a final coat. I have another 7 litre tub turning up today.
Dee suggested yesterday that we should get rid of the fire surround.
After some time after i calmed down and composed myself I told Dee that it was staying.
She then said to me "Maybe you should paint it ".

I had plans to wax it.

The wall is now ready to be painted Dark Angel which is purple.

What are your thoughts ?

Leave it. It'll contrast nicely with the purple. Reply

I think it looks fine as it is mate, just needs a couple of coats of a fine varnish to give it a bit extra protection. Reply

Keep the surround and get rid of Dee is an option Ken, it would save you a lot of work. :-) Reply

I love natural wood ,and i would suggest giving it a light sanding then wax it ,you can get coloured wax nowadays ,but i dont think painting it would do it justice Reply
