What great news a Tasmanian Girl had won gold?

Australia's Ariarne Titmus beats Katie Ledecky in 400m final, Emma McKeon takes Tokyo Olympics bronze in 100m butterfly final.

Ariarne Titmus may not live in Tasmania these days, but is still Tasmanian bred, her father Steve uprooted the family, and they moved to Brisbane, as the opportunities in Tasmania were a lot less for a swimmer, and moved to Brisbane.

Her Father Steve Titmus, is a well known journalist, who was born in Tasmania, and started his cadet ship at the Launceston Examiner, has worked in many states, and had moved back to Tasmania in 1991 and worked for the Southern Cross Network in Launceston as the sports editor, and later in 1997 became the main news anchor. He also had a stint with Win TV in Hobart as well, as a news reader. Now he is a reporter for Channel 7 Brisbane.

Many Tasmanian's are feeling so proud today, that it was one of our own who won a Gold Medal.

Well done Ariaene.

What a swim, she's made us all very proud and the family made so many sacrifices to help her get where she is today. How about her coach! He went crazy, I loved it and he reminded me of Laurie Lawrence years ago. Reply

Great swim and well done Ariaene. You are entitled to hail her as your own in Tassie. I have heard their life story and indeed she is from Tassie. What a great family to do all of this for Ariaene. Reply
