An Alberta man rescued a moose calf that was crying and obviously in distress as it was caught up in a wire fence. Coyotes were beginning to circle it also and it would have only been a matter of time before they moved in.

He didn’t have the right tools to free the calf, so he called a local farmer to help. As the farmer went about helping, he kept an eye on the calf’s mother who was waiting nearby. As he moved aside parts of the fence, the calf manages to get loose and runs off.

It would be scary trying to rescue the baby calf with Mama moose close by, knowing that she could very easily attack and trample you at any moment. Wild animals just seem to know when humans are there to help. I'm sure if I seen an wild animal in danger I'd figure some way of helping.
