Budget Day

No need to wait for it as it appears that most of it has already been leaked. Rishi seems to be throwing out cash in all directions but as a retired person living entirely off investment from savings (joke!) and a small occupational pension until I am able to claim my state pension next year it will do nothing at all for me, and with rising prices for food, utilities etc and frozen personal tax allowance I expect to find myself quite a bit worse off.

What effect are you expecting today's budget to have on you - good, bad or indifferent?

It definitely won’t be good for the general households. Reply

I was hoping for a change ie that given the breath of fresh air that Rishi appeared to be we might see something positive for those in our society who are most in need due in part to the years of Tory austerity. Alas he has reverted to Tory type and kicked them when they are down. Reply

It will probably be more of the same with it appearing to help everyone while detailed examination shows that the less well off are once again subsidising the wealthy. Reply

I’m not expecting any rewards either. I too have a small occ pension, but I have to wait another 10 years for my state pension. I have no investments to receive an income from.
All household bills are going up. Even my minimal income from jam making is taking a hit with the increase in the price of fruit and jars. Oddly though sugar has come down by a few pennies!

I'm in a very similar situation myself Minnie. Not holding my breath that's for sure. Allowing inflation to run at relatively high levels and with higher taxes , energy and council tax come next April , it all adds up to be pretty negative from my perspective at least. Reply

I think we will all generally be worse off under Doris and his cronies! Welcome to Brexit Britain! Reply
