What would you buy for an Eight year old girl for Christmas?

I need to buy a gift for an eight year old girl, but have know idea as to what to get. When out at the shops I could find lots for little girls and teenagers, but nothing for this age! Could anyone give me an idea as to what girls at this age like? Many thanks

Have you any ideas what she particularly likes at the moment - if so buy her something based on this. If you have no ideas what she is in to or she isn't showing anything that she is particularly into, you could get her art stuff (i.e., drawing pads, pastels, felts, pen, etc). If she is very girlie you could get her some hair stuff (various clips, bobbles, hair brush set, etc) or some child's jewellery. If she still likes dolls - you could look at the Bratz dolls. You can also get these sets where they make there own thing or paint soemthing (i.e., you can buy box sets that allow the child to make a teddy bear for example). Good luck with whatever you decide.

No idea, we have the same problem with buying for 9 year old step grandaughter. She's not really interested in anything in particular except babies (real ones not dolls) and does tend to be a bit destructive with toys. We bought her clothes last christmas but don't want to do that this year.

I think it depends on the child. Perhaps ask the parents what she likes to gain an idea of what's appropriate. Some kids like reading, some like toys, some like clothes or hair accessories ... just depends on the child.

When I was eight I got my first proper wristwatch, I loved it. In fact, I still have it. Hasn't worked in twenty years, but it's still in my box of treasures.

My neice is 8 and she is getting lots of Sylvanian family things. I've also bought a fashion thing which has stencils and glitter/felt/glue etc so she can make her own. Other than that, sweets should do the trick! x
