  They are not meant to be there, they have bred out of control so I agree with this. Africa has no shortage of Hippos and most certainly doesn't need anymore. Sterilization is the best option for this problem. I would DEFINITELY not suggest eating them. I would love to see how they put a hippo on a spit roast as per the one comment below. I have seen hippos in real life. Lol. they are much bigger than a cow.

  They can be easily roasted or grilled & cooked into hamburgers or patties obv. bigger than our average cow burger, so traditionally they are spit-roasted over coals & wood or open fires & can be made into steaks. Seasoning (cumin etc) will make them taste like deer (or venison) otherwise they taste of pork rather than BBQ. They can be stewed with typical veggies that 1 would use in a beef-stew.
